Landscape painter, Bailey Miller, has always had nature at her back door. From traveling to remote alpine lakes, traversing mountain peaks, snowshoeing through a secluded winter wonderland, or beach combing along the coastline, there is no limit to where Bailey will explore to seek inspiration. She was born with a soul for adventure, eager to see the sublime, untouched beauty of God's creation. Bailey currently resides in Eastern Washington and is enjoying all the beauty the northwest has to offer. Bailey has been displaying her work for the past eight years throughout the western states. Bailey’s love of nature and adventure go hand in hand with her passion for painting. As an artist, she loves how a painting can bring to life the memories of an adventure even after it is over. It is a journey from beginning to end; each painting carries the ups and downs of her adventure, the joys of painting, and with every new audience, a fellow adventurer adds a story of their own memories to the painting. She would not simply call herself a landscape painter, but instead, an adventure painter. With her camera and painting kit in tow, she creates small paintings on site during her travels before returning to her studio full of inspiration and references to begin larger paintings. Working in thin layers of oil paint, Bailey begins with larger shapes and slowly forms the scene. As the painting develops, the brushes progressively get smaller as her focus turns to the details; she hopes to not only capture the beautiful array of colors in a landscape but also the delicate details. By using a glazing technique, light is able to shine through the layers of paint maintaining a vibrance of color and allowing the painting itself to have the essence of its’ own light source. Through painting, Bailey aims to not only capture nature’s essence, but also a creation that takes you back in time… back to the jubilant moment of your first summit, a family camping trip, or simply the comfort of your home away from home view; a painting that takes you back to YOUR adventure… or hers. She is a painter for adventurous souls who make wayfaring a way of life and celebrate remarkable moments in remarkable places.
